On Thursday we took a day trip to Captiva Island without much of a plan. I knew we wanted to show my mom & sisters the cute little village, do some shopping, hang at the beach, and get lunch.
Captiva connects to Sanibel so it was just a short drive over. We got there around 10am and parked at the Mucky Duck and soon realized that the shops didn't open until 11 - seriously? We decided to go down to the beach to kill some time.

I thought about photoshopping my head on Beth's body but then decided against it since it would be kind of obvious...and I don't have photoshop. ha!
Waiting for the waves!
Yikes, here they come!
The waves on Captiva are much bigger than the ones on Sanibel so we (Beth, Cora, & I) had fun playing in them.
Kinley's not sure what to think...
I think the gulf looks a lot more blue on Captiva, too...maybe I'm crazy?
Back of the Mucky Duck - best place to catch sunsets!
We were still wet from the beach so we decided to go to a casual lunch spot - Cantina Captiva.
We had never been there but thought we'd give it a shot.
Family photo
Our hippie waiter recommended that we order a pitcher of margaritas and we didn't argue! haha
The outside seating sort of resembled a jungle. I bet it looks really cool at night with all the lights strung up!
Then we had to try their chips & guac which were amazing!!
Kinley hamming it up for the camera on the fish chair
They had a banana tree growing in front of the restaurant - fun!
We decided to head back to Sanibel after lunch to meet up with our group.
Captiva has gorgeous homes, some of which are visible from the road. Here's one of our top pics!
And here's our empty lot on the water, in case we decide to build...ya gotta dream big people!
The small bridge that connects the 2 islands.
We asked Kinley if she would like to go to school on Sanibel...
And she seemed to like the idea!
Maybe after we win the lottery!
