4th of July

Scott worked on the actual 4th of July so Kinley & I went to my parents house that morning to relax and enjoy the AC. Sue warned me that the pool was packed, people were fighting over chairs, and it was ridiculously hot.  Have I mentioned that it's been almost 100 hot/humid degrees all month?  I'm all for a hot summer but this is crazy!  Anyway, after a good nap, we made it to the pool!

Here's Kinley with her welcoming committee.

The Tucker girls
Kinley & I played in the baby pool to keep cool.
Little one was ready for a nap...
What a sweet little napper:
We swam the rest of the day and enjoyed dinner at the club.
BUT the celebration couldn't end that soon so we went back to the house and played in the lake until the sun went down.

Cutest guys I know:
 Always stunting..
After celebrating the 4th of July for a week straight, we all decided that we were too exhausted to stay up for the fireworks and called it a night!
Happy Birthday, America!

"3rd of July" Fun!

**Warning - I take too many pictures so this will be long**
I took off work on Tuesday for a pool & boat day since family was in town & Scott was off work.
Kinley stayed with Grandma Weezie while we boated & soaked up the scorching hot sun!  The kids tubed and skied and we enjoyed a few cold beverages.

Some awesome action shots of Aidan & Brayden:
Rian & Maille skiing:

More action shots of Rian & Delaney:
Uncle Scott definitely didn't go easy on Kylie & Rian either:
Around 2:00 we swung by the Tuckers to pick up Kinley and take her to the pool with us.  Ann said she had already been napping for almost 2 hours which is unheard of with our non-sleeper.  I went back to the bedroom and she was still passed out.  Normally she wakes up when she hears anything but I was rubbing her back and talking to her without any success.

I'm pretty sure babies just know when you want them to sleep and when you don't and they do the opposite.  I finally had to get her out of bed and she still didn't fully wake up until after our boat ride to the pool, ha!
We ate a quick lunch at the snack bar and hit the baby pool.
Have I mentioned that Kinley loves the water?
The big kids in the big pool:
And back to the baby pool to play with K:
She has the best cousins ever!
We enjoyed a little more boating before we headed back to the house for a cook out.
We had one of my favorite summer meals - grilled chicken, asparagus, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, and peaches. Insanely good, healthy, & so fresh!

After dinner, we wrapped up the night with a little swimming, fishing, & playing ball in the lake.

What a fun day & night!!

Pre-4th of July Fun

We were excited to start our 4th of July celebration a few days early, especially since Kinley had 5 different red, white, & blue outfits!
I met Sue & the kids for lunch on Friday and Kinley got her 1st big kid souvenir cup from the Corner Pub.  She loved drinking out of the cool straw!

Friday night we went out on the boat for "light up the lake."  Lets just say that it was a lot more comfortable than last 4th of July...

Saturday we got up bright & early & drove to Aurora for the Jimmy Buffett concert.  Here we are packed in Rob & Sue's car:
Kinley was next to me snoozin' away..
We stayed with my in-laws and the girls took Kinley on the trampoline for the 1st time.  She seemed to like it until I came outside and she saw me.  (Realizing that mommy's not holding her is always a good reason for a meltdown).
We grilled out and made our own cheeseburgers in paradise and margaritas before the concert.  Rian made a mega burger!
Kinley rocked her dress that the O'Connors brought back from Hawaii - perfect Buffett attire.
K & me before the concert.
Since all of the adults were going to the concert, it was Kinley's 1st time staying with a "non adult" babysitter.  I must admit that I was a little anxious but they are very responsible and Kinley loves her cousins so that helped!
I got a pretty good report - she was good but the girls had to sing 'twinkle, twinkle' a million times before she finally fell asleep. ;)  We loaded up the next morning and made the trip back home for the annual Tucker 4th of July party.  I had to snap a pic of the kiddos in the back:

We got home at 11 so I went home, made fruit pizza, went to Jeffers' pool for a few hours, ran home, and tried to get myself & Kinley ready for the party at 4:00.
Unfortunately, I only allowed an hour to get us ready and finish the fruit pizza so it was just another case of me trying to do too many things in one day... I'll never learn!  Therefore, I was late to the party and had a million things to carry so I felt like a failure as a "single" mom!

A few pics from the party:

We had a fun but exhausting weekend but it made us even more excited for the real 4th of July celebration!
